The search for the next wave of Texas assistant coaches is making progress as head coach Tom Herman looks to complete the hiring process as soon as possible. After first-year defensive coordinator Chris Ash made the decision last week to not retain co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Craig Naivar and cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator Jason Washington, Texas continues its search to replace now seven assistant coaches from the 2019 season. But recent developments have led to the Longhorns adding three new faces to the future of Texas football with the recent hires of linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator Coleman Hutzler, wide receivers coach Andre Coleman and cornerbacks coach Jay Valai.
On this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes discuss the recent coaching additions to Herman's staff before bringing in Horns247 publisher Bobby Burton to talk all things Texas football. We are then joined by special guest, GoPowerCat.com publisher Tim Fitzgerald, for an in-depth look into former K-State OC and new Texas receivers coach, Andre Coleman, and the mark Coleman left on the Wildcats during his time spent as a member of Bill Snyders coaching staff at Kansas State.
Chip and Taylor wrap up the show with their tailgate takeaways, including Chip's take on how the ties between LSU and Texas, particularly the coaching hires, could have changed the course for both programs, but more so for the now reigning College Football Playoff National Champions, Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers.
