A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes your uterus. Your uterus — or womb — is where a baby grows if you're pregnant. A partial hysterectomy removes just the uterus, leaving the cervix intact. A total hysterectomy removes the uterus and the cervix. A radical hysterectomy is the most invasive, removing most and is common in removing cancers.
With ovaries intact with a partial, they hope that you can still produce hormones. A decrease in blood flow can decrease or stop hormone production completely.
It is very important to know when your last period was and why the hysterectomy occurred.
Progesterone is still a VERY important hormone post-hysterectomy as it is pre-hysterectomy. Dr. Durst explains why that is the case and why it is overlooked by a lot of doctors. Estrogen Creams are popular in our office prescribed by our providers for women post-hysterectomy. Testosterone can be used to help orgasmic strength post-hysterectomy.
Not everyone that has a hysterectomy goes directly into menopause!!! Blood work can help track with menopause.
Our goal is to help you regain confidence and achieve your best self!
