Description
Mental health is very much a taboo within our community. How can we raise awareness on it's causes, triggers and injustices if we don't talk about it. And if we don't will it leave our loved one's at the mercy of a system we don't overstand?
Todays guest, Tedrick Bailey has worked for ACCI (African Caribbean Community Initiative) for 20 years. ACCI is a mental health service formed by a group of Rastafarians over 32 years ago.
We talk about how the lack of understanding, prejudices and misrepresentation for our community has caused our people to be misdiagnosed and held against their will under section. We also cover the solutions, processes and improvements being made by members of our community to right these wrongs.
