In last week's episode, our guest Adam shared that he wanted to homeschool his son.
A few years ago, I would have frowned at the idea of homeschooling. I would have thought of it as something very marginal, cultish and detrimental to the future prospects of any kids.
But not anymore.
Today, I think that the institution of school is detrimental to kids, to our mental health, to social cohesion and even to democracy. And homeschooling, or any other alternative to schools, should be seriously considered by any responsible parent.
Our guest today, Dr Peter Gray, is the reason why my beliefs have so drastically shifted. His book, Free to Learn, has been hugely influential in shaping my views of school.
