Put your Hope in God‼️Daniel, Secrets of Intellectual Greatness, A Good Diet
Pastor and Mrs Chifamba
Deuteronomy 28:13
And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
1 Corinthians 9:25
“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.…”
THE PRINCIPLE IN THE TEXT ABOVE DOES NOT ONLY APPLY TO ATHLETES BUT ALSO FOR THOSE STRIVING FOR INTELLECTUAL AND SPIRITUAL GREATNESS,THEY ARE TO BE TEMPERATE IN WHAT THEY EAT. IT WAS THUS DANIEL AND HIS FRIENDS WATCHED THEIR DIET AND THEY EXCELLED INTELLECTUALLY
True temperance teaches us to dispense entirely with everything hurtful, and to use judiciously that which is healthful. There are few who realize as they should how much their habits of diet have to do with their health, their character, their usefulness in this world, and their eternal destiny. The appetite should ever be in subjection to the moral and intellectual powers. The body should be servant to the mind, and not the mind to the body. – {Child Guidance p. 398.3}
Daniel 1:16-17 NKJV
“Thus the steward took away their portion of delicacies and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables. As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”
Daniel’s clearness of mind and firmness of purpose, his strength of intellect in acquiring knowledge, were due in a great degree to the plainness of his diet, in connection with his life of prayer – {Counsels on Diet and Food p. 82.4}
Daniel 1:20
And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
The relation of diet to intellectual development should be given far more attention than it has received. Mental confusion and dullness are often the result of errors in diet… Many a puny child, incapable of vigorous effort of mind or body, is the victim of an impoverished diet. Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables, in proper combination, contain all the elements of nutrition; and when properly prepared, they constitute the diet that best promotes both physical and mental strength. – {Education p. 204}
EVEN THAT WHICH IS GOOD MUST BE EATEN JUDICIOUSLY OTHERWISE IT WILL HINDER INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT
Ecclesiastes 10:17
Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!
Proverbs 25:16
Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
Proverbs 23:20-21
Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: 21For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
Isaiah 22:12-14
And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: 13And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. 14And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Philippians 3:18-19 NKJV
“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set the
