As I was going into surgery, surrounded by my wife and my sons, i was faced with a very difficult reality... after decades of trying to provide, protect and lead my family, after years of trying to give my wife everything I could... I had to face it.  I had to let her go.  I had to trust my boys to take care of their mom, and I had to make peace with it.  When I survived the surgery, against the odds, I awoke to a tumultuous world of new perspectives, altered expectations, and different priorities.
