Zone out
means to lose focus or become mentally distracted, often without realizing it.
Examples:
1- Famous musician Ed Sheeran admitted he sometimes zones out during interviews when the questions get repetitive!
2- My friend was telling me all about his stamp collection, and I just zoned out, imagining what was for dinner instead.
