Men and Women of Faith and Courage, Miriam: A Brother’s Keeper‼️

By Pastor and Mrs Chifamba

MIRIAM UNLIKE CAIN WAS A BROTHER’S KEEPER SO ARE WE TO BE

Genesis‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭

“Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?””

‭‭

Exodus‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭

“Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him.”

MIRIAM USED DIVINE WISDOM TO SECURE SAFETY FOR HER BROTHER

James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

Job 28:28

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Exodus‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭

“Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it. When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby was crying. She took pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.” Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?” And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the girl went and called the child’s mother.”

AS A BIG SISTER OR BROTHER WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING OTHERS BY PRECEPT AND EXAMPLE

1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭

“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”

Titus‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭

“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.”

FAILURE TO BE A BROTHER’S KEEPER MAKES THE NAME OF THE LORD TO BE BLASPHEMED

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ ‭

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

Let Christians not make it possible for the enemy to point to them and say, Behold how these people, standing under the banner of Christ, hate one another. Christians are all members of one family, all children of the same heavenly Father, with the same blessed hope of immortality. Very close and tender should be the tie that binds them together. – {Acts of the Apostles p. 550.1}

John‬ ‭13‬:‭34‬-‭35‬ ‭

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.””
