When we pray the Rosary, is it just mindless recitaton i.e. babbling?
On a recenty Ascension Presents, Father Mike Schmitz reminded us of a warning from Jesus not to babble like the pagans who think because of their many words, they’ll be heard by God.
Are we carrying on with the Our Fathers, Hail Marys. and the sacred mysteries without giving much thought to whom we’re speaking to? Isn’t mindless recitation babbling?
So how do we fix this?
When I was a teenager and my mouth started going off track with my mom and dad, my mom would calmly say, “Remember whom you’re talking to.”
And that’s it. Just remember whom we’re praying to.
God is fighting to get our attention and by praying the Rosary we accept that invitation.
Eliminate as many distractions as you can so our Lord is at the front of our minds when we say the words.
He wants your attention.
As much as you can, give it to him.
