305. How We Teach the Gospel in a Word Picture Part 2

Welcome back to the kitchen table! Today, Bethany continues the conversation on using word pictures to share the gospel with your little ones. Our focus today? The mirror.

Think about when you walk into the bathroom and look into the mirror. With the light on, you clearly see your reflection—the mirror shows everything, even the dirt on your face. Romans 3:20 reminds us that, just like a mirror shows our physical dirt, the law shows us our sin.

As parents, we often feel like we’re constantly correcting our children. But here's a shift: our rules are like mirrors. They don’t change behavior, but they highlight our kids’ need for Jesus. Romans 7:7 explains that the law points out our sin, showing us our need for a Savior.

Next time you step into a bathroom, remember—the reflection is just the start. It shows us where we are, but Jesus is the one who cleanses us.
