The Hobbit at the Pittsburgh Public - Part 2

Episode 666 Published 1 year, 9 months ago
Description
The land of J.R.R. Tolkien is coming to Pittsburgh in a new adaptation for the stage! Voice of the Arts takes a peak backstage of The Hobbit at the Pittsburgh Public Theater. In Part 2 of this 2 part series, we talk with puppet Artists in Residence at the PPT, Matt Acheson and Jamie Agnello about their creation of some of the most famous characters from the Hobbit. Jamie talks about the creation of Gollum as a 3 person operated puppet made from precious found objects. Matt highlights the unique opportunity this production brings to families to engage in puppetry art that isn't usually seen in theater. Both hope to see families engaged in conversation about the story, and how these wonderful puppets were brought to life on stage.
