Around 2000 B.C., a group of travelers left the Sumerian city-state of Ur. According to the Old Testament of the Bible, among them was a man named Abraham and his wife Sarah. The story of Abraham would be passed down for centuries and become central to the origins of Judaism, the first of the three great monotheistic religions in world history.
