United States Air Force Heritage of America Band - Heritage Wind Band

Episode 664 Published 1 year, 9 months ago
Description
The Heritage Winds of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band are on tour in Southwestern Pennsylvania. They've already played Carnegie Mellon University, and will play at Latrobe Presbyterian Church (10/13), Seton Hill University (10/14) and the DeYor Performing Arts Center in Youngstown (10/15). Senior Airman and horn player Cooper Johnston is a CMU grad and was an intern at WQED-FM. He was joined by Master Sergeant Kelly Longmire (oboe); Staff Sergeant Hilary Zirkle (clarinet); Senior Airman Debra Loh (bassoon); and Airman 1st Class Yuna Langehennig (flute) at the WQED-FM studios to talk about the tour, their musical background, how they became a member of the Heritage Winds, if they've been up on one of the Air Force planes, and if there's any musical competition between the Armed Forces. They also played "America the Beautiful" and 2 movements from Aires Tropicales by Paquito D'Rivera.
