Published 4 years, 6 months ago
Description
Heard Tell for Wednesday, March 9nd, 2022 is turning down the noise and getting to the information we need on congress once again slapdashing an omnibus bill through under the auspices of deadline legislation. This time, it is a $1.5 trillion dollar funding measure to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year…plus all the things that we will find out last minute and after the fact that will be snuck in. Also, continuing to talk about Putin’s war of aggression in Ukraine and President Biden’s announcement that the United States will start to sanction & block oil imports from Russia, and also highlight the absurd visual of Ukrainian gas workers risking their lives to keep the pipelines through Ukraine that moves gas from Russia to Europe running in the first 10 days of the war and those exports increased. Of course, with that comes the blame game of rising fuel prices at the American pump, so we will turn down the noise on what is and isn’t the president’s fault when it comes to rising fuel costs. Guest Dr. Michael Siegel returns to Heard Tell to talk some science both in the stars and universe and also with COVID-19 back here on Earth. How science should work, what lessons have been learned, and how we should appreciate that yesterday’s scientific breakthrough is tomorrow's norm. Also, Michael explains the bad astronomy in Interview With A Vampire, a real-life Armageddon-style mission to crash into an asteroid, and how the Russia-Ukraine war threatens cooperation in space. Meanwhile, China has once again been caught using cyber attacks and hacks, this time exploiting vulnerabilities in state governments and even animal regulatory agencies. We also cover the story of a student who turned the tragic death of a classmate into a gift that will serve and protect their community for many years to come. All that and more on this Wednesday edition of Heard Tell.
