Description
Heard Tell for Tuesday, March 15th, 2022, is turning down the noise and getting to the information we need on poll numbers out regarding whether or not the United States should take in any of the 2 million and counting Ukrainian refugees from the brutal invasion Vladimir Putin is conducting against them, and some grown folk talk about why those numbers are different than when they involve refugees from other parts of the world. Also, we talk about Jeff Zucker, until recently the head of CNN, and how yet another power structures was designed around someone deemed too important to hold to normal standards and accountability, the destruction it wrought on people and broadcast news media, and how important things like journalism are used as cover for very bad actors to do their self-serving deeds. Guest Dennis Sanders is back on Heard Tell, this time talking about unions, labor, and how things have changed in the world of organized labor. Dennis draws on being the son of autoworkers and growing up in Flint, Michigan to talk frankly about the good side of unions, their limitations, and how unions should be adapting to the modern world and economy to help workers instead of hindering them. Dennis also has a wonderful in-depth series of writing on the rise and fall of Sears and Kmart, and explains how the destruction of the once dominant retailer wasn't just market forces or changing times, but a study in predatory leadership. Also, an infuriating story out of Georgia about how local election officials are being harassed, hounded, and their jobs made almost impossible by election conspiracy theorist who have decided to take matters into their own hands, and election boards/officials who don't seem to have any good answers on what to do about them. All that and more on this Tuesday Edition of Heard Tell.
