Published 4 years, 1 month ago
Description
Your Heard Tell for Thursday, September 1st, 2022 is turning down the noise of the news cycle and getting to the information we need to discern the time we live in by dealing with one of our most important rights and how we deal with education. Our guest Leslie Corbly joins to talk about the scope, usage, definition, and changing use of warrants. Leslie talks about how new technology such as geofence warrants and digital privacy issues is changing the long running debates on what can and cannot be accessed without permission or a court order. Plus, Leslie talks about how the uncertainty not only hurts the individual, but makes law enforcements job even harder and greatly increases the likelyhood of bad interactions with the public and running afoul of the court system. Then, Quinn Townsend returns to Heard Tell to talk about the Hope Scholarship program in West Virginia, one of several education savings account schemes of different names across the country, and what the program was and wasn't before a judge ordered it unconstitutional and halted it. Quinn talks about how education should be all of the above in trying to help children, school choice, funding, and the role of parents and teachers. Also, Quinn talks about the unique aspects of West Virginia, and how/why the state has long been one of the lowest ranked states for education.
