Season 7 Episode 14
Strong Enough To Be Gentle (Advent 14)
Many of us confuse being strong with being hard. So we act hard to project our own strength and power.
Some of us are afraid of showing tenderness, or kindness, or compassion. We afraid that our gentleness will be taken for weakness. So we pretend.
This kind of fake toughness is born of fear. Fear is not consistent with trusting that our lives are in the hands of a loving God.
“… The LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts…” Psalm 85: 8
Speaking is the metaphor for creating. God is speaking into being a reality of peace and wellbeing for all who place their hearts in God.
We don’t have to act hard when we realize we have the power of the universe behind us, the power of God within us. We become strong enough to be gentle.
