For any 8 year old, the world can be a big and scary place.   For an 8 year old Black Girl growing up in the Jim Crow South during the 1950s, the world can be terrifying.  In today's episode, I will share my mother's story of how her inadvertent decision to sit in the front of the bus in 1954 as an 8 year old girl resulted in the bus not moving and the lasting impact this incident had on her life.
