The Legacy of the University of Mississippi's Blues Archive

Episode 53 Published 1 year, 6 months ago
Description

This week on Time Signatures with Jim Ervin, Erv welcomes The Head Special Collections, Blues Curator and Professor from The University of Mississippi, Greg Johnson. Johnson joins us to discuss the foundation of the Blues Archive. Founded between 1982 and1983 with B.B. King’s donation of around 10,000 33s, 45s, 78s and even some Edison wax cylinders, the Blues Archive is about to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Erv and Greg talk all about that, the acquisition of Living Blues Magazine in 1983, and the recent addition of Time Signatures and Erv’s Blues concert photography to the Archive as well. It’s an educational interview, and one you won’t want to miss! See you there!
