This Sunday we explored the Psalms as Hebrew Bible poetry. The Psalm in the Revised Common Lectionary for this week was Psalm 19. The Psalm opens with a broad perspective and call for all of Creation to praise God. And then the Psalm gets more specific to us. There is a Christian music artist who plays piano, sings and composes beautiful songs for praise and worship whose name is Fernando Ortega. As I read this Psalm, I cannot help but hear Fernando Ortega's beautiful piece, "Let the Words of My Mouth" play. There is something extra special about worship music that includes actual scripture passages. It is good to sing praise to God and setting them to music may help us remember the passage easier.

Music between the scripture and sermon "Be Thou My Vision" (Voices United Hymnal #642). Words: ca. 8th cent. trans by Mary Elizabeth Byrne, 1905. ver. Eleanor H. Hall, 1912 alt. Music: Irish traditional melody. Podcast/Streamed with Permission under One License Number: A-607425 & CCLI 2453477
