God loves a cheerful giver

God loves a cheerful giver

Published 2 years, 9 months ago
Description
God loves a cheerful giver, says St. Paul in his second letter to the Corinthians. This is a basic Christian principle. We cannot behave with God as like what we do to our parents when we begrudgingly do what they ask us to do in the house because we don't like what they were told to do. Do we pout after being requested to do something? When asked to do some errands for them do we get moody and drag our feet when going out to do them? As the Apostle of the Gentiles says we are free to choose what to do, let us be free in doing that we are asked to do, by God or by some authority and not act like a spoiled kid. In this way of being cheerful we can imitate the saint of today, namely, St. Lawrence who was martyred by being roasted alive. He is reputed to have told his executioners that he was well done already on one side and that they could turn him around for the other side to roasted. What a guy, right?! What great love he had for the Lord Jesus Christ who suffered and died for him and for all of us, for that matter.
