St. Paul explains in his letter to the Romans about our salvation. God sent His only-begotten Son to take up flesh. The Justice of God played through with regard to the sins of Adam and Eve and all the rest of the sins committed by man till the end of time. The price for sin had to be paid by man. At the same time, no man could foot the bill because sin's gravity was infinite. God had to come into the picture. Hence, the solution was a God-Man, i.e., Jesus Christ. Justice would be served by His dying on the cross.
