The texts of the three lessons of today's mass cap our preparations for Christmas. David plans in the first reading to construct an appropriate dwelling of the Presence of God in the Ark of the Covenant. But God tells him to consider whether God should dwell in a house built by human hands. God wanted to tell us that He was planning to establish His Kingdom on Earth. The second reading brings us up to speed, so to speak, to the fact that God revealed Himself more fully in the birth of His only-begotten Son. The Gospel reminds us that all these plans of God would only happen if man agrees with God's plans. Mary is brought to us to consider again. She said her Fiat to becoming the Mother of God. We also need to say yes to Him. Only to the extent we agree to His plans will Christ become incarnate in each one of us to effect that Kingdom of God.
