The Effects of the Coming of the Messiah
Published 2 years, 4 months ago
Description
The Christ arrived into the world that had been given up to the Enemy of God, namely the Devil. Adam and Eve went over to his side because they had distrusted God and disobeyed His Commandment of not touching the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. So, Jesus in a manner of speaking, parachuted into enemy terrritory. He went behind enemy lines to reclaim what God had lost to the Devil. So, the Christ began this work as can be appreciated in the readings of today's mass. First in the Gospel, we find our Lord curing the mother-in-law of Peter from her fever. And because she was cured she began to serve them. Health is given us not to use for our greed but for the service of the others. Then, Our Lord gave us His example of rising well before dawn to pray. Foreseeing a busy day, He sacrificed a bit of sleep to fulfill this duty to God. And thus, we should follow suit. And to pray is to report to the presence of God, just like the young prophet Samuel did in the first reading of the mass.
