David shows us his behavior at the presence of God symbolized by the ark of the covenant. Lots of sacrifices are offered to God while they move the ark of the covenant to the tent David set up for it. David himself danced like a madman throughout the route to the tent. All this behavior was to recognize and give adequate worship to the God symbolized by the ark of the covenant. Imagine what we must do in God's Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist. It is not anymore a symbol we have of God. We have His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity hidden under the species of bread and wine. Think then what we need to do in order to attend mass on Sundays for example. The effort of going is part of the sacrifice we offer to God. Just like in the first reading ending, the people returned home with some items David sent with them. At the end of the mass, the priest sends us forth with Jesus now in our hearts, especially after receiving him in Holy Communion.
