Our dear Lord Jesus Christ asks the ones whom He cured not to spread the news. This is especially because they still do not have the entire picture about Him. The Jews were all awaiting the advent of the Messiah. Their expectation was for a warrior leader concerned with earthly glory and conquests of land and kingdoms. They yearned for a leader like King David who could lead them against the Roman gentiles. Seeing that Jesus could bring the dead back to life was truly extraordinary. Fallen soldiers from battle could simply be cured or resurrected. Limited rations and military supplies could be multiplied. But all this was fruit only of their limited minds. Jesus was much more. Those people only had a partial grasp of the big picture. Hence, they were not yet ready to spread the news about Him and His power. It would only be fake news.
