Episode Details

Jesus is pursued by the people He just fed in the miraculous multiplication of bread and fish. They find Him near Capernaum. But He invites them to think more clearly about why there were looking for Him. That offers Him the opportunity to elevate their considerations. He asked them to go beyond thinking of goals limited to this world and resources. True, He just fed them bread and fish. Think about the food that will bring them to eternal life. Now, that is quite a deep reflection. The earthly goals may not be bad but they will only be for this life. They will end. They will rot. They are vulnerable to the elements. However, there is another Food He asked them to consider, that is, the Food that will give them a ride to Heaven where they will enjoy eternal life with God, the Supreme Good. That would be invulnerable to any and all elements in this life.
