We listen to the Gospel today telling us about the desertion Jesus experienced from many of His disciples. Why did they leave Jesus? It was because they could not accept His teaching about the Holy Eucharist, that we need to eat His Flesh and drink His Blood so that we be saved. It was ludicrous to them. So, Jesus braced Himself, in asking His closest associates. St. Peter replied by asking a rhetorical question, "What about you, do you want to go away too?" But, St. Peter replied for everyone, "Lord, who shall we go to? You have the message of eternal life and we believe..." This is how we need to react to a teaching of Jesus. Naturally, we will find some hard to believe. The solution is to make an act of faith, just like Peter did. We affirm again that Jesus is divine, and that we trust Him.
