You might have noticed groups of day laborers, many of them newly arrived migrants, available for hire outside your local Home Depot. In some places, their increasing numbers have become a problem. But in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, longtime residents from Venezuela and elsewhere are working to change that.
