The episode recounts the story of Charles "Chuck" Shriner's disappearance and subsequent murder. The investigation began with a frantic 911 call from his live-in employee, Richard Brian Whiting. Suspicion quickly fell on Whiting, who was having an affair with Shriner's wife, Lori. Police discovered a trail of blood in the Shriner home, along with a bloody ax, leading them to believe that Shriner had been killed in his den and then moved to his truck. Despite Lori's initial denials, Whiting was ultimately arrested and convicted of murder, based on a combination of forensic evidence and witness testimony.
