Introduction and Katherine Knapp’s Journey

Dr. Barbara Hales: Welcome to another episode of Marketing Tips for Doctors.

I’m your host, Dr. Barbara Hales. Today, we have with us a very interesting guest, Katherine Knapp. Her journey toward improving patient outcomes began years ago when her mother died of lung cancer at the age of only 57. She later lost her three siblings at young ages due to various cancer deaths.

Katherine is on a mission to teach others how to prevent diseases before they take hold of us and those we love. After years of personal research on the proven link between diet, lifestyle, health, and longevity, Katherine became certified to work with doctors to help families avoid the heartache of losing loved ones to preventable diseases. As she continues her work with practices nationwide, providing science-based healthy diet and lifestyle education and nutrition, she extends her guidance to individuals and families on their journeys toward improved health and well-being. Welcome to the show, Katherine.

Katherine Knapp: Thank you. Thanks for having me. It’s so nice to be here.

Dr. Barbara Hales: It’s nice to have you. You know, I’m sorry that your mission was born out of such sadness and sorrow. I’m sorry about your siblings and your mom. That must have been extremely tough. So, for you to emerge from the ashes and say, “I’m going to do something positive,” is really very commendable.

Katherine Knapp: Thank you. It really just evolved by natural causes. It was something so blatantly important to me after losing my mom at such a young age. There were so many lessons learned in that because she was young, and she had put off a lot of things that she wanted to do until later in her life. Then tragically, her life was cut short. So, there was a lot of that lost opportunity for her, and it taught me many lessons.

Dr. Barbara Hales: So, you’ve been trying to accomplish her bucket list for her?

Katherine Knapp: I’d say I’ve already accomplished her bucket list. My parents were married in the 50s, and back then, all she really wanted was a good, happy family. Unfortunately, my parents got divorced when I was eight, and she missed out on that. I’ve been married to my husband for 37 years next month. I feel like I’ve broken the mold. I have a happy family, and now I’m at a point where my kids are older, and I can focus on my career and on giving back to others.
