Season 7 Episode 3
We Can Grow and Change (Advent 3)
“We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” - from Isaiah 64:8
Honest assessment of our individual and collective faults and shortcomings is an essential component of our growth.
The writer of Isaiah a few verses earlier in the text pointed out that, “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6)
We start with self critique, but we do not end there. Where we are is not where we have to stay. How we are is not how we must to remain.
When we allow ourselves to be the clay in God the potter’s hands, everything about us can be reshaped, crafted, and molded.
We can develop new hopes, new dreams, new goals, and new desires. We can develop new patterns of thinking and responding. Developing new habits transforms our character.
Because we can grow and change, we can become what we are meant to be.
