means to become nervous or hesitant about doing something you have planned, usually at the last minute.
Examples:
1- The coach picked him to take the final penalty kick, but he got cold feet and asked someone else to take it.
2- Emily was excited about the wedding, but she got cold feet and called it off a week before the ceremony.
