Who we really are with Dr. Michelle Botha
Dr. Michelle Botha holds a doctoral degree in disability studies from the University of Cape Town, which focused on the identity-level impact of rehabilitation services on newly blind adults in South Africa. She also holds a M.Soc.sci in gender studies, where her work focused on the complex lived experiences of visually impaired women in South Africa.These interests are closely connected to her experience as a disabled woman, as well as her ongoing involvement in activism and the Non-profit disability service sector. She is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies at Stellenbosch University, expanding her work in critical rehabilitation studies, as well as research on education and wellbeing for young people with visual impairments in South Africa.
