Marvel Fusion secured €62.8 million in a Series B funding round to advance laser-driven fusion technology. The company focuses on inertial confinement fusion and plans to build a demonstration facility with Colorado State University, targeting operational status by early 2027. This facility will utilize two 100-Joule lasers firing in the femtosecond range on a nanostructured target, using a hydrogen and boron mix for fusion fuel. Marvel aims for simpler mass production methods similar to semiconductor manufacturing. The raised funds will support the development of a commercial-scale prototype expected by 2032-2033, contingent on successful initial tests and effective scaling to generate substantial power.
