Description
Buford, an affluent community located in Gwinnett County, Georgia, is recognized for its resort-like atmosphere. However, on December 4, 2004, the serene facade of the community was shattered
At 7:30 a.m. that morning, a 911 dispatcher received an urgent call from a resident who reported that her neighbor, 33-year-old Jennifer Corbin, had been shot. Upon the arrival of first responders, they discovered Jennifer in her master bedroom, lying in bed with a firearm positioned next to her

The estimated time of death was determined to be between midnight and 3 a.m. A bottle of wine rested on the nightstand next to the bed, accompanied by divorce papers. Her husband, Bart Corbin, had recently initiated divorce proceedings, seeking not only the home but also custody of their two sons and child support, as noted by Linda Looney, a former news anchor at WVEE radio station

The evidence pointed towards the possibility of suicide. We could see where the gunshot wound entered towards the back of her head, stated Edward Restrepo, a former detective with the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Women typically do not use handguns for suicide, and there was no note, Restrepo further remarked. This raised our suspicions.

Jennifer Corbin found dead by her 7-year-old son
Investigators conducted a thorough search of the neighborhood and interviewed Jennifer’s then-7-year-old son, Dalton. According to Looney, He had slept through the gunshot before he entered her room that morning and discovered her lifeless in her bed.
