Be honest with yourself about where you are.

“But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be arrogant and lie about the truth.” - James 3:14

The most important people that we need to be honest with are ourselves. Individually and collectively we have some uncomfortable truths that we need to recognize and acknowledge about ourselves.

At one point, I was carrying anger. I was carrying resentment. I was carrying bitterness. I was sabotaging myself because I was not carrying myself in a manner that was consistent with who I claimed and wanted to be.

The day that I was honest with myself, and owned my part of that toxic dynamic was the day my transformation began. I asked God to help me love those people, you know, the ones I didn’t love.

It didn’t take long. The anger and bitterness went away. I rose above the pettiness- particularly my own. I eventually reached every goal I had been blocking myself from reaching.

But first, I had to be honest with myself.
