Madman of the Route - El Loco De La Ruta

Published 1 year, 7 months ago
Description
The individual referred to as the Madman of the Route, or El loco de la ruta in Spanish, is the moniker attributed to a suspected serial killer believed to have operated in Mar de Plata, Argentina, between 1996 and 1999. It is alleged that this singular perpetrator is accountable for the murders and disappearances of no fewer than 14 sex workers, with some victims later discovered to have been raped and mutilated near highways, occasionally bearing inscriptions on their bodies.

Since the introduction of this hypothesis, various suspects have been identified and charged, including a cadre of corrupt law enforcement officials; however, none have faced conviction. As of now, the cases surrounding these murders remain unresolved.

Murders

On November 29, 1995, the remains of 35-year-old María Esther Amaro were discovered alongside Provincial Route 55. She had been strangled, and the phrase "puta bitch" was inscribed on her back using a sharp instrument, likely a knife.
