How do I pay for the date without it getting awkward? - MONDAY MAILBAG - The JTrain Podcast w Jared Freid

Description

It's Monday AKA Mailbag Monday 🙌 📩Jared starts off venting about his frustrating experience trying to sign up for a Barry's Bootcamp class. What started as a simple decision to work out quickly spirals into a whole thing trying to figure out their apps and malfunctioning passwords. You're trying to commit to fitness, only to be bogged down by small inconveniences that leave him questioning the whole endeavor. He also dives into the psychological toll of attending fitness classes where insecurity creeps in. Is this Ticked Off Tuesday?😅

From there, Jared goes into sharing stories from his recent trip to Chicago, including an awkward fan interaction at a baseball game that left him feeling bloated and off his game. Jared then offers advice to a listener whose boyfriend, a freelance voice actor and podcaster, wants to lease a separate studio apartment for work. Jared sympathizes with the listener’s concerns about this being a potential red flag, exploring how the timing and reasoning for this new space might feel suspicious. He acknowledges the delicate balance between trusting a partner and addressing valid unease. Jared advises the listener to focus on the timing of the request and how it made them feel, rather than jumping to conclusions about trust or cheating. He highlights the importance of addressing how the sudden change affects the relationship dynamic and emphasizes that it's reasonable to feel off-put by such a last-minute decision. Jared also touches on personal experiences, sharing how he views relationship progression, and encourages open communication to better understand each other’s intentions.

He then answers a guy concerned about how to handle the awkwardness around splitting the bill on dates. Jared gives his own approach to paying and how he interprets the other person's insistence on splitting. He stresses maintaining a positive tone and making the other person feel appreciated for their time, while also acknowledging that some might want to split the bill to signal they’re not interested in a second date. Do you like splitting the bill? What are your thoughts?!!
