Bite the bullet
means to do something difficult or unpleasant that you have been avoiding, but which is necessary or unavoidable.
Examples:
1- I hate going to the dentist, but I had to bite the bullet and get that root canal done before it got worse.
2- I bit the bullet and tried to assemble IKEA furniture without the instructions. Three hours later, it’s a bookshelf... I think.
