Following a specific food plan can actually lead to binging because it creates a sense of restriction. Meal plans, even flexible ones, still impose restrictions and can trigger an all-or-nothing mentality. Releasing food rules and letting go of the need for control is key to conquering binge eating. Rewiring the brain, getting rid of urges, and tuning into hunger and fullness cues are more effective than following a meal plan. It is possible to become less impulsive with food and stop binge eating without a rigid food plan.
