Several senior leaders have opted out of the race, and over three dozen members have resigned in recent weeks, leaving the party scrambling to regain control. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress has gained significant momentum by inducting two of India's most renowned Olympians, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia.
