Well, MMI Academy’s accredited Applied Project Management course is your friendly guide to making sense of the madness. Whether you're a newbie or just looking to sharpen your skills, this course promises to make project management approachable and relatable.

While on the course, you will learn about the project life cycle and why a phased approach that involves defining, planning, organizing, and executing is preferred when tackling project work. You’ll also learn about stage-gate approvals, or the performance points projects must meet to ensure strategic alignment and effective project governance. Don't be intimidated by the big words — it's all really simple stuff that will benefit you greatly in both the short and long term!

“Beyond conventional methodologies, we emphasize the real-world application of project management principles, ensuring you gain a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate the complexities of diverse projects effectively,” explained a spokesperson for MMI Academy. “While this course is for anyone, it is highly recommended if you're in the engineering and construction industries and would like to transition into a project management role.”

The Applied Project Management course includes 80 hours of live and online classes. Classes are usually held in the evenings or on weekends, and all required materials are provided digitally to you before the start of the course. Because the course is MMI Academy’s entry-level offering, there are no prerequisites for enrolment. That's right — if you've got a computer, internet connectivity, and a willingness to learn, you're a candidate for the course!

Simple as it is to get in, there are some boxes you need to tick in order to pass the course; you must attend at least 80% of the sessions, submit all homework assignments, and score at least 75% on the exams. If you meet these requirements you will receive a Project Management Certificate from the British Columbia Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

If you are unable to attend the January 2025 Applied Project Management course, you can sign up for another course offered by MMI Academy later in the year. In addition to January, courses are currently scheduled for April, July, and October.
