A "pet hate" is something that particularly annoys or irritates someone, even though it might seem trivial or unimportant to others.
Examples:
1- Oprah’s pet hate is chewing gum. She’s mentioned that she finds it incredibly annoying and has banned it from her offices.
2- One of her pet hates at work is when colleagues don't clean up after themselves in the kitchen.
