The couple was recognized for their generosity, often inviting friends and family in need to stay with them. However, a troubling pattern emerged as these guests began to mysteriously vanish.
The first individual to go missing under Shelly Knotek’s care was her longtime friend, Kathy Loreno.
The two had cohabited in Knotek’s residence for five years before Loreno disappeared in 1994.
Knotek maintained to inquirers that Loreno had merely chosen to start anew elsewhere. This explanation was repeated when two additional individuals also went missing from her home.
