The cast of Bad Monkey join Kyle Meredith to talk about the Apple TV series that stars Vince Vaughn as a one-time detective demoted to restaurant inspector in Southern Florida. A severed arm found by a tourist out fishing pulls Yancy into the world of greed and corruption that decimates the land and environment in both Florida and the Bahamas. And yes, there’s a monkey and a great soundtrack populated by Tom Petty covers by artists such as Eddie Vedder, Jason Isbell, Weezer, and tons more great artists. In fact, creator Bill Lawrence (who also gave us Scrubs, Cougar Town, Ted Lasso, and Shrinking) tells us why he wanted the Petty covers throughout the series and how Vaughn’s character ended up with a ZZ Top ringtone, while his daughter Charlotte Lawrence not only tells us about this being her acting debut but covering “Wildflowers” as her contribution. Meredith Hagner dissects her character, “Eve Stripling,” a sociopath who keeps us on our toes as to her ultimate motives, while Natalie Martinez (“Dr. Rosa Campesino”) discusses jumping into comedy for the first time and the significance of being from the same Miami area where much of the series takes place. Both she and Ronald Peet (“Neville Stafford”) talk about what it was like to go head-to-head in dialogue with Vince, with Ronald also knocking out the Bahamian accent all while acting with a monkey.
