Season 6 Episode 11
What was my part in it?
What was my part in it? This is perhaps the most powerful and transformative question I’ve ever asked myself.
There are real world situations of abuse where responsibility for something is 100% to zero percent. Those are hard to overcome.
This hasn’t been the case for me. Even when I could pinpoint blame and assign most of it to someone else, there was still a considerable chunk over for me.
The moment I accepted this fact was the moment I was able to let go of all my anger and bitterness. It was the moment I was able to forgive.
Further, I realized that the other person’s shortcomings really didn’t matter to me. I needed to learn and grow and get better or stay stuck where I was and repeat the same cycle.
That’s when I finally understood the wisdom of Jesus telling us to get the board out of our own eyes before we worry about the spec in our neighbor’s eye.
What was (is) my part in it?
