In 1970, Ken suffered a devastating neck break while playing football for Cornell University, leaving him almost entirely paralyzed from the shoulders down. Yet, he persevered and went on to accomplish extraordinary feats.

 

Ken earned multiple advanced degrees from prestigious institutions, including Cornell and Columbia Universities, in fields such as engineering, education, and psychology.

 

He became a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor and worked tirelessly to empower severely disabled individuals.

 

Ken's determination and passion for justice led him to pursue a law degree at Hofstra University's School of Law.

 

He then served as a Nassau County assistant district attorney for over 40 years, rising to the rank of Deputy Bureau Chief.

 

Ken's incredible journey is a testament to his resilience and dedication. He is also a devoted husband and father of triplet boys.

 

His memoir, "I Dream of Things That Never Were: The Ken Kunken Story," was published in 2023.
