t a news conference in Ottawa, Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon announces that he has directed the Canada Industrial Relations Board to impose final binding arbitration in an effort to end the ongoing labour disputes between the Teamsters union and Canada’s two largest railways. The federal government is also calling for the resumption of railway operations and the extension of existing collective agreements until new agreements have been signed.
