Whit's Revenge
Description
You knew Whit Merrifield would have a hit or two in Tuesday night’s series opener against the Phillies at Truist Park.
The Phillies released Merrifield on July 12. They were on a 106-win pace at the time. They are 12-20 since. Coincidence? Almost certainly yes. It wasn’t just Merrifield who beat the Phillies on Tuesday. The top three Phillies hitters went 0-for-12 with seven strikeouts. The Braves retired the final 17 batters they faced. José Alvarado walked four in less than an inning. Not a good way to start another difficult stretch.
Ruben, Jim and Todd also answer your questions: everything from Bryce Harper’s health to Scott Kingery to The Phillies Show scented candles to unwritten rules for beat writers. Jim reveals his biggest no-no of them all: no shorts on a plane.
